My last report said we had enjoyed some rain but needed much more. So the rain came and in fairly large volumes and the River rose and coloured but not for long. It is now rather low! Why? You may ask? The answer is simple, we need more rain sustained over a much longer period. We are about 6 weeks of sustained rain short – if that makes sense.
So we need to take a number of measures to hold back as much water as we can. That will be the main job of this Month’s Work Party by rebuilding the weir in John’s Field and the Cascades. Please see below.
Of the Members I have met during my twice monthly river walks, many are enjoying their fishing although some are struggling to avoid a blank. Hence my comment that you must be ready to change your tactics and methods readily. If you do then you increase your chances of achieving the smile on our faces that says “That was a good session!”
